Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to HB 5401 clarify the responsibilities of the State Building Inspector and the Codes and Standards Committee in updating the State Building Code, specifically regarding adherence to new national standards. The timeline for incorporating updates to the code has been extended from eighteen months to two years, allowing more time for adjustments based on newly published model codes. This matters because it ensures that building regulations remain current and relevant while giving authorities adequate time to implement necessary changes, promoting safer construction practices.
