Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 1474 now allows any state elected official, regardless of whether they are subject to term limits, to retire without resigning from their position if they reach a normal retirement date through other employment. This change broadens the criteria for retirement, making it easier for elected officials to transition into retirement without losing their current roles. This matters because it provides more flexibility for politicians who have served their term while also encouraging a smoother transition for those nearing retirement age.
