Plain-language change summary

The latest version of House Bill 2992 includes updates to a pilot program focused on child sexual abuse prevention in public schools. Notably, it expands the participating schools from those serving grades six through eight to a more general selection of public schools while specifying that the program will occur in the 2027-2028 school year. Additionally, the bill now has a clearer emphasis on consulting with organizations that support survivors of grooming or trafficking and provides detailed guidelines for training teachers on recognizing and responding to various forms of abuse. These changes enhance the program's focus on raising awareness among students, teachers, and parents, which is important for fostering a safer school environment.
