Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to House Bill 178 adds protections against discrimination based on medical debt in employment and housing contexts. Employers can no longer refuse to hire or discriminate against individuals due to their medical debt, and landlords must also avoid refusing rental applications or inquiries based on medical debt. This change is important because it aims to reduce barriers for individuals struggling with medical bills, helping them access jobs and housing without prejudice.
