The bill now includes a requirement that a customer must expressly agree in writing to be charged for services on an earlier date if they are using a credit card or direct debit. Previously, customers could agree to an earlier charge verbally or through other means approved by the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). This change clarifies the consent process for customers regarding charge dates, potentially making the payment terms more formal and documented.
