Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of House Bill 1585, the requirement for police officers to report immigrants they suspect are in the country illegally has been clarified. The new wording specifies that officers must have "probable cause" to act and they are directed to report using specific contact methods for immigration enforcement. Additionally, previous penalties for not complying with this obligation have been removed. These changes matter because they refine the reporting process and could affect how law enforcement interacts with immigrant communities.
