Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill HB 5067 transfer the authority to handle certification appeals for law enforcement officials from the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety to the Office of Administrative Hearings. This change is significant because it centralizes and streamlines the process for individuals whose certifications have been denied, suspended, or decertified, potentially leading to a fairer and more efficient resolution of their appeals. Additionally, the bill continues to outline the director's responsibilities in enhancing collaboration across various levels of government and community organizations in the criminal justice system.
