Plain-language change summary

The amendments to SB 431 clarify the rules around how employers and licensing agencies in Wisconsin can consider an individual's pending criminal charges when making employment or licensing decisions. The revised text specifies that it is not considered discrimination to refuse employment or a license based on a pending charge, unless the charge is significantly related to the job or activity in question. This change is important because it aims to create a clearer framework for handling cases of arrest records, potentially helping employers make informed decisions while also protecting individuals' rights during the hiring process.
