The revised bill now establishes May 7, 2025, as Skilled Trades Day in Wisconsin to honor and raise awareness of skilled tradespeople, particularly in the construction industry. It emphasizes the growing need for new workers due to an aging workforce and showcases Wisconsin's strong apprenticeship programs that combine on-the-job training with education. Recognizing this day is significant as it highlights the value of skilled trades jobs, which are crucial for the state's economy and cannot be outsourced, ultimately helping to attract more individuals to these essential careers.
