Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Assembly Bill 997 now includes a provision to allocate $60 million annually for the Department of Financial Institutions to make contributions to Trump accounts, as long as these contributions are expressly authorized by state law. This change simplifies the funding structure by specifying amounts for the next two fiscal years, highlighting the state's commitment to potentially supporting these accounts. This matters because it formalizes the state's financial involvement in a specific area, which may impact public resources and priorities.
