Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill AB 592 presents a significant change in how the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will provide professional development for science teachers. It now specifies that the program's implementation is contingent upon receiving supplemental funding by June 1, 2026; if the funding is not approved, DPI will not be required to proceed with the program. This alteration matters because it emphasizes the importance of financial support for the initiative, ensuring the program can only move forward if adequate resources are available.
