Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill AB 380 clarify the conditions under which a judge can be suspended without pay for misconduct. The changes specify that a suspension without pay can happen in cases of "criminal misconduct" and detail that if a judge is ultimately found not to have engaged in misconduct, they can reclaim back pay from the time of their suspension. This is important as it provides clearer protections for judges while still holding them accountable for their actions.
