Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Assembly Bill 225 clarify how courts determine the appropriate venue for civil actions based on a defendant's residency or business activities. The bill now explicitly states that courts cannot consider the involvement of certain parties in the case when deciding on venue—a step aimed at ensuring fairness in legal proceedings. Additionally, it establishes that a business entity is considered to reside where it's incorporated and can only be considered to be doing substantial business in its main operating county. These changes are important because they provide clearer rules for courts, which could lead to more predictable and fair outcomes in legal cases.
