Plain-language change summary

The updated bill now emphasizes the urgency to amend the Ban on Non-Compete Agreements Act by detailing that this change is necessary due to congressional review and by postponing the law's applicability to October 1, 2022. This amendment is crucial as it aims to fill the gap that would occur between the expiration of the current emergency measures and the upcoming temporary law, ensuring that the protections against non-compete agreements remain in effect without interruption. Essentially, it helps prevent a lapse in legal protections for workers in D.C. while waiting for the new temporary law to take effect.
