The updated version of House Bill 1037 adds clarity to the rules regarding towing companies, emphasizing that their fees must be reasonable and that they cannot tow vehicles to locations where recovery isn’t possible during their operating hours. It also maintains the provision that violations constitute unfair and deceptive practices, which helps protect consumers from potential exploitation. These changes are crucial because they enhance consumer rights and ensure more transparent practices in the towing industry, effective from later this year and into the next fiscal year.
