and of the board in 1991, then was elected to the Senate of Virginia, WHEREAS, Tommy Norment was elected as minority leader of the Senate of Virginia in 2008, then led Republicans to regain the majority of the chamber and became majority leader in 2012;
and as majority WHEREAS, during his storied tenure in the Senate of Virginia, Tommy Norment became the longest-serving Republican leader in Virginia history and the longest-serving Republican senator in Virginia history;
