The amended version of SB 707 changes the requirement for family therapy experience from a specific focus on the applicant's experience to a broader context, allowing more flexibility. Additionally, the department’s authority is adjusted from a mandatory role in consultation with a board to a more discretionary approach, ensuring they can adapt to new federal laws and industry standards. These changes are important because they may streamline the approval process for therapists and help ensure that the regulations keep pace with evolving professional standards.
