Summary

The Coast Guard will enforce the safety zone for the Rockport Tropical Christmas Festival Fireworks Display Show on December 6, 2024, or December 7, 2024, to provide for the safety of persons, vessels, and the marine environment on navigable waterways during this event. Our regulation for marine events within the Eighth Coast Guard District identifies the safety zone for this event in Rockport, TX. During the enforcement periods, entry into this zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Sector Corpus Christi (COTP) or a designated representative.

Dates

The regulations in 33 CFR 165.801, Table 4, Line 11, will be enforced from 8 p.m. through 8:45 p.m. on December 6, 2024, unless the event is postponed because of adverse weather, in which case this rule will be enforced from 8 p.m. through 8:45 p.m. on December 7, 2024.

The Coast Guard will enforce the safety zone in 33 CFR 165.801, Table 4, Line 11, for the Rockport Tropical Christmas Festival Fireworks Display Show from 8 p.m. through 8:45 p.m. on December 6, 2024, with a rain date set for December 7, 2024, from 8 p.m. through 8:45 p.m. This action is being taken to provide for the safety of persons, vessels, and the marine environment on navigable waterways during this event. Our regulation for marine events within the Eighth Coast Guard District, Sec. 165.801, specifies the location of the safety zone for the Rockport Tropical Christmas Festival Fireworks Display Show, which encompasses portions of Little Bay in Rockport, TX. As reflected in Sec. 165.23 and Sec. 165.801(a), if you are the operator of a vessel in the regulated area you must comply with directions from the Captain of the Port Sector Corpus Christi (COTP) or any designated representative. Persons or vessels desiring to enter the zone must request permission from the COTP or a designated representative. They can be reached on VHF FM channel 16 or by telephone at (361) 939-0450. If permission is granted, all persons and vessels shall comply with the instructions of the COTP or designated representative. [[Page 93477]] In addition to this notice of enforcement in the Federal Register, the COTP or a designated representative will inform the public through Broadcast Notice to Mariners (BNM) and Marine Safety Information Broadcasts (MSIBs) at least 24 hours in advance of each enforcement.
