The Coast Guard proposes to revise the Miami Anchorage. Under the proposal, the Miami Anchorage would be divided into two separate anchorage areas. This action is necessary to reduce potential damage to threatened coral posed by anchoring vessels. This proposed revision would update the regulation to clarify the regulatory text and to reflect the establishment of two anchorage areas instead of one area currently in place. We invite your comments on this proposed rulemaking.

“I completely agree with this as it could save many ocean lives. It could also support water transportation in the meaning of space required for boats. Save natural beauty that was gifted to us.”

“I believe that any action that can be taken to protect the environment must be fulfilled and to the fullest extent. The destruction of natural habitat must be stopped. Simply because humans have the ability to destroy the world we live in does NOT mean we should. At this point we can not afford to waste any time, the extreme protection of the environment has to start immediately.”

“The proposed rule would not have a significant economic impact on any vessel owner or operator so therefore this rule would mostly benefit us. About 70% of the world is made up of water so by helping save the ocean, we are helping protect the Earth. This rule also allows the vessels to continue to anchorage here, it would just be more split up. They have even changed the rule and made minor changes to allow the vessels enough space, allowing them to anchor in this area. The Coast Guards are not only trying to protects the coral, but they are also trying to accommodate to the other businesse...”
