Summary

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve a request submitted by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) on February 6, 2018 to revise the Illinois State Implementation Plan (SIP) under the Clean Air Act (CAA) for the 2010 sulfur dioxide (SO<INF>2</INF>) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). IEPA is specifically requesting EPA approval to amend Illinois' SIP for the 2010 SO<INF>2</INF> NAAQS to account for two variances recently granted by the Illinois Pollution Control Board (IPCB) to Calpine Corporation (Calpine) and Exelon Generation, LLC (Exelon).

The agency’s own summary, as published.
