The rule changes the level of supervision for assistants who are polishing crowns not for the purpose of changing the contour of the tooth from direct supervision to general supervision. It also removes language not authorized by law that allowed assistants who are polishing crowns under the supervision of a hygienist. The rule amendment also reorganizes the structure of the rule to make it more cohesive. For 64B5-16.006 – The Board propose the rule amendment to delegate to dental hygienists the authority to use lasers under certain circumstances and for limited purposes.
