Summary
Update the rules with respect to rabies requirements in conformance with changes made to the Animal Control Act pursuant to Public Act 101-299 [P.A. 101-299, eff. 1-1-20] and Public Act 104-72 [P.A. 104-72, eff. 1-1-26] and changes made to the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Practice Act of 2004 pursuant to Public Act 104-522 [P.A. 104-522, eff. 1-1-27]. Also update the rabies quarantine requirements in accordance with National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians recommendations. Add cats to the section covering interstate shipment of dogs. Update the definition of "humanely dispatched" to refer to the most recently published American Veterinary Medical Association Guidelines for Euthanasia of Animals. Change the definition of "wild animal" to encompass wolf and coyote hybrids beyond the first generation. Change the requirement that the Board submit an Animal Control Program to the Department to the requirement that the Board develop and maintain an Animal Control Program that is available for review by the Department.
