Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of Bill HB 1283, the language was updated to clarify that contracts cannot be issued, transferred, or assumed by another insurer without confirmation from the commissioner about the financial strength of the new insurer. The commissioner now has 60 days to review and ensure the assuming insurer can meet its obligations. This change is important as it helps protect consumers by ensuring that only financially stable insurers can take on existing contracts, reducing the risk of failures in coverage or services.
