The recent amendment to Bill SB 325 establishes a clearer process for the Department of Transportation to collect damages for property destruction on public highways. It broadens the definition of unlawful use to include any unreasonable damage caused by careless driving or using overly heavy vehicles. These changes are important as they aim to enhance the protection of public infrastructure and ensure that individuals or entities responsible for damages are held accountable. This could lead to better maintenance of transportation systems and safer road conditions for everyone.
