The recent amendment to HB 183 clarifies that certain fines and fees related to juvenile offenses, specifically for marijuana possession, are being eliminated. This change is significant as it seeks to reduce the financial burden on young individuals who may face legal consequences for minor drug offenses, thereby promoting a more equitable approach to juvenile justice. By lessening punitive measures, the bill aims to focus more on rehabilitation rather than punishment.
