The amended version of Senate Bill 5 now includes a program that allows the Economic Development Department to provide grants for rent, lease, and mortgage reimbursements to specific businesses. Previously, this funding was tied directly to the Severance Tax Permanent Fund, which has been removed, potentially broadening the funding sources for these grants. This change matters because it may make it easier for businesses to access financial support during challenging times, contributing to local economic stability and recovery.
