The recent amendments to SB 202 focus on funding and training for law enforcement, particularly school resource officers. The bill now includes requirements for these officers to undergo specific training tailored to their roles in schools, which aims to enhance safety and effectiveness. Additionally, it allows school police departments with full-time resource officers to tap into funding from the Law Enforcement Protection Fund, helping to ensure they have the necessary financial support to fulfill their duties. This change is significant as it addresses the growing need for specialized training and resources in schools to improve student safety.
