The updated version of the bill SB 29 introduces a new income tax credit aimed at encouraging the installation of solar systems in New Mexico. Specifically, taxpayers who purchase and install residential, business, or agricultural solar thermal or photovoltaic systems between now and 2028 can receive a credit of 10% of their purchase costs. This change is significant as it provides a financial incentive for residents and businesses to adopt solar energy, potentially boosting renewable energy use in the state.
