Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 111 removes the requirement for employees and employers to make nonrefundable contributions for part-time workers who are one-quarter or less of a full-time employee. It also allows certain retirees to return to work without losing their retirement benefits and exempts substitute employees from the educational retirement requirements. These changes are significant because they provide more flexibility for part-time employees and retirees, potentially helping to alleviate staffing shortages in educational settings while ensuring that retirees can continue to receive their benefits.
