Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 146 expands provisions regarding kinship guardianships by introducing subsidized guardianships and establishing eligibility criteria for assistance payments. This means that caregivers, who are not the biological parents of a child, can now receive financial support to help them raise the child. These changes aim to provide more resources for families taking on guardian roles, ultimately promoting stability and better care for children in need.
