The recent updates to House Bill 8 include the establishment of the "Electric Generating Facility Economic District Act," which allows counties to create special districts for electric generating facilities. The bill now specifies how these districts can be governed and grants them new powers. It also introduces a specific gross receipts tax designed to help pay off revenue bonds issued for these districts, which is important for funding infrastructure and ensuring financial stability. These changes are aimed at encouraging local economic development in the energy sector.
