Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to HB 615 replaced the original requirement for annual mental health training for all public education personnel with a two-year pilot project focused on mental health training in the Gadsden independent school district specifically. This shift means the initiative will now be tested in one district to evaluate its effectiveness before potentially rolling it out more broadly, instead of mandating it for all schools right away. This approach allows for a tailored evaluation and feedback process, which could lead to better-informed decisions on mental health training in education across the state.
