Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 659 includes the addition of a specific appropriation of $71 million aimed at enhancing pre-kindergarten programs in New Mexico, especially for disadvantaged children. This funding will be divided equally between the public pre-kindergarten fund and the children, youth, and families pre-kindergarten fund. By increasing support for early childhood education, the bill aims to ensure that more children have access to the skills they need before starting elementary school, which is crucial for their academic success.
