Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 418 allows political parties in New Mexico to permit non-members to participate in their primary election nomination processes. Previously, only registered party members could vote in these primaries, which limited the involvement of independent voters. This change aims to increase voter participation by letting more individuals have a say in candidate selection, potentially leading to a broader and more representative electoral process.
