The recent changes to SB 55 focus on extending the time limits for prosecuting certain crimes against children. Specifically, the amendments expand the timeframe to initiate legal proceedings for these offenses, giving victims more time to come forward. This is significant as it aims to provide justice for survivors who may take years to report such crimes due to trauma or fear, ensuring they have the opportunity to seek legal action when they are ready.
