Plain-language change summary

The updated bill, SB 157, now explicitly allows educational retirement program members to convert unused sick leave into service credit. This change permits members to use up to six days of unused sick leave per year for this purpose, which can help boost their retirement benefits. This matters because it rewards teachers and educational staff for their dedication by recognizing the value of their accumulated sick leave when they retire, potentially leading to better financial security in their retirement years.
