Plain-language change summary

The amendments to House Bill 87 expand the list of individuals who are prohibited from possessing firearms, specifically including those who are under an order of protection. Additionally, the definition of a "felon" has been changed and penalties related to these laws have been updated. This matters because it aims to strengthen protections against domestic violence by ensuring that those who pose a threat cannot easily access firearms, potentially enhancing safety for vulnerable individuals.
