Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 143 now explicitly mandates that the Public Regulation Commission must create rules for inspecting fire and smoke dampers and fire control systems in various types of buildings, including schools, residential buildings, and government properties, following national safety standards. This change is significant because it enhances safety regulations, aiming to prevent fire-related incidents by ensuring that critical safety systems are regularly tested and maintained in line with established national standards. Adding specific building categories also broadens the scope of the legislation to include more structures that could benefit from these inspections.
