The amendment to Bill SB 174 now allows individuals who are 75 years old or older to be permanently exempt from jury service without needing to submit an affidavit. This change simplifies the process for older citizens, recognizing their potential challenges in serving on juries. It matters because it reduces administrative burdens for both the courts and senior citizens, making participation in jury service less burdensome for older individuals.
