Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 192 now requires courts to presume that individuals who are pregnant or lactating should be released, rather than just allowing for judicial discretion. This change emphasizes the importance of considering the specific needs of pregnant or lactating individuals when deciding on their release, ultimately promoting a more compassionate approach to incarceration. This means that these individuals might be in a better position to maintain their health and well-being, as well as that of their children.
