The updates to Senate Bill 228, now called the Wildlife Corridors Act, include the establishment of a comprehensive Wildlife Corridors Action Plan. This plan will guide state agencies in identifying and protecting areas that are crucial for wildlife movement, especially in light of obstacles posed by human development. The act's new framework is important because it aims to enhance the safety and mobility of wildlife, which can help preserve biodiversity and reduce vehicle collisions with animals.
