Plain-language change summary

The changes to HB 442 mainly clarify the definitions and penalties associated with aggravated arson. The bill now specifies penalties based on the amount of damage caused, and it establishes harsher consequences for those who intentionally accelerate or delay a fire's ignition. This matters because it aims to hold offenders accountable more effectively by clearly defining actions and corresponding penalties, which may deter such crimes and improve public safety.
