The bill HB 192 now includes a provision that requires drivers to maintain a minimum distance of five feet when passing bicyclists. This change emphasizes the importance of safety for cyclists on the road and aims to reduce the risk of accidents between vehicles and bikes. If a driver cannot comply without crossing into oncoming traffic, they are instructed not to pass at all. This new measure also establishes penalties for those who violate the rule, creating a stronger incentive for motorists to respect bicyclists' safety.
