Plain-language change summary

The new version of Bill SB 517 establishes a specific crime for driving while intoxicated with a minor under the age of thirteen in the vehicle. This change means that anyone caught doing so will face misdemeanor charges in addition to any existing DUI charges. This is important because it highlights the need for stricter penalties to protect children from potential harm in such situations. Overall, the amendment aims to enhance child safety by holding drivers accountable for their actions when a minor is present.
