The recent amendment to Bill SB 78 clarifies the process for local option districts to approve restaurant licenses for selling alcoholic beverages. It allows these districts to hold elections on whether to permit sales of beer, wine, or both alongside distilled liquors produced in New Mexico, streamlining the requirements for initiating such elections. This is important because it gives local communities more control over alcohol sales in restaurants, potentially benefiting local businesses and the economy.
