The revised bill SB 438 now creates the "acequia and community ditch infrastructure fund," which will be managed by the interstate stream commission and will receive money from the New Mexico irrigation works construction fund. The changes involve removing additional details about the powers, duties, and funding requirements for projects that were initially included, simplifying the bill's focus. This matters because it streamlines the legislation, making it easier to understand and potentially speeding up the process of securing funds for vital water infrastructure projects in local communities.
