Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill HB 651 introduce the "Water Data Act," which aims to improve the management and integration of water data in New Mexico. Key changes include removing the establishment of a Water Data Council and the associated appropriation of funds, while instead directing specific state agencies to identify and integrate water-related data sets. This shift emphasizes a more streamlined approach to handling water data without creating new administrative bodies, which matters because it can lead to quicker implementation and potentially lower costs in managing water resources effectively.
