The recent amendments to House Bill 124 clarify that funds from the fire protection fund can now be used to purchase land specifically for fire stations and substations. Additionally, it allows entities that have outstanding obligations related to previous fire protection fund awards to receive more financial support. These changes are important because they provide greater flexibility in how fire protection funding can be utilized, potentially improving the infrastructure for fire services in communities.
