The updated version of SB 197 introduces the "Judge Pro Tempore Fund," which is designed to cover the costs associated with judges who serve temporarily. This fund will include money from various sources such as appropriations and donations, and importantly, its balance will not expire at the end of the fiscal year. The establishment of this fund is intended to ensure that there are sufficient resources for temporary judges, which can help improve the efficiency of the court system. This change matters because it enhances the judicial process by making it easier to bring in judges as needed, contributing to better access to justice.
