Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Bill HB 129 specifies that only local school boards and the governing bodies of charter schools can authorize security personnel to carry firearms on school property, emphasizing that this decision must be made in an open meeting and formalized as policy. This change aims to increase accountability and transparency in the decision-making process regarding school safety. It also ensures that only certain trained personnel can carry firearms in schools, which could help enhance the security measures in place at public and charter schools.
